Dan Docherty was a world-renowned Tai Chi Chuan master, born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1954. He was known for his expertise in Wudang Tai Chi and his strong views on Tai Chi history.
Dan's Tai Chi journey began in Hong Kong, where he served as an inspector in the Royal Hong Kong Police Force. There, he trained under Cheng Tin Hung and represented Hong Kong in full-contact fighting competitions.
After leaving the police force in 1984, Dan became a professional Tai Chi teacher based in London. He taught thousands of students worldwide and was considered a leading figure in Tai Chi. He called his school Practical Tai Chi Chuan International (PTCCI), building on the practical Tai Chi tradition of his teacher, Cheng Tin Hung. Learn more about PTCCI’s lineage here.
Dan sadly passed away in 2021 after fighting Parkinson's disease for many years.
Francis originally trained Aikido, before spending many years learning Tai Chi with Rose Li. He taught Rose Li Style Tai Chi Chuan for several years before switching to Dan Docherty's Wudang Tai Chi in 1986. Francis eventually moved back to France to follow his career as a talented artist.
